Newborn Session FAQs
Ideally, baby is supposed to be sleepy during your session. So the baby should be fed at your arrival or you feed the baby at the studio and then we proceed with the photo session! Try to keep baby awake for as long as possible before the session and ready for a big feed on arrival. We will first take some photos in the baskets, baby will be wrapped (all prop/bonnets and hair bands, accessories are provided- if you have any favorites bring them with you). Afterwards family photos will take place (mum, dad, siblings) and finally some beanbag poses.
Neutrals; black, grey, beige and white are the best choices. avoid logos, stamps or clothes with patterns. you can bring an extra outfit just in case. In winter, it’s going to be warm in the studio, so wear light & comfortable outfit! in summer time room temperature is settled so that the baby is comfy as at home. All you need to do at the session is sit back and relax for a couple of hours.
For the baby: pacifiers, diapers and milk if baby is not breastfed. All wraps and outfits will be provided by me. If you have any handmade blankets/teddies feel free to bring them with you, if they match the setup we will use them.
Adults/siblings: neutral clothes as mentioned above (what to wear), wedding/engagement ring if any, and any hobby accessories or job (uniform) bring as well with you.
I recommend booking your newborn photography session around the 7th month of your pregnancy. We calculate around a week after the expected date, and as soon as the baby arrives you give me a call to confirm the date and time of your session. Ideally within the first 10 days of baby’s life and before he/she is two week’s old if possible. So if the baby arrives earlier you definitely need to give me a call on time to rearrange!
Please don’t wait until baby is born to contact me. It will be easier to find a date that suits both our programs if you book in advance. Mostly of my sessions are booked in advance so if you know you want newborn photos please book on time.
Sessions last around 2 hours. Of course it depends on your baby’s needs, time for feeding, baby to settle etc. If the baby cries, maybe the session will last a bit more, but we will wait and take care of him/her, with some time until he/she will settle.
